What helped us...
To help your baby sleep through the night, ensure a comfortable sleep environment, feed them a full meal before bedtime, and establish a soothing bedtime routine. Gradually encourage self-soothing, and avoid stimulating activities before sleep. Our sleep routine consists of keeping a consistent bedtime and naptime schedule, incorporating calming activities like reading, dimmed lights and giving a bath. Sleep products like white noise machines (Bye Bye Cry, Hatch), blackout curtains, and the Snoo bassinet have been lifesavers for us.
We created a safe sleep environment by placing our baby on their back in a crib with a firm mattress, without loose bedding or toys. We adhered to the "ABCs" of safe sleep: Alone, Back, Crib.
Yes, we faced feeding challenges, including latch issues and milk supply concerns. We addressed them by seeking help from a lactation consultant, practicing proper breastfeeding techniques, and using a breast pump to maintain milk supply. In the end, switching to formula feeding was a game changer for us. Please read my blog post to learn why.
For teething discomfort, we used teething rings, cold washcloths, and teething gels. We also offered extra comfort and cuddles during this challenging phase.
Must-have baby gear includes a reliable stroller, baby carrier, and a diaper bag with essentials like diapers, wipes, and a change of clothes. These items have made our parenting journey much more manageable. Please check my blog post on NAME for more baby gear and products.
Baby carriers, slings, and wraps have been a lifesaver for multitasking and bonding. They provide closeness while allowing us to get things done.
We swear by packing a well-stocked diaper bag, bringing familiar toys, and maintaining a flexible schedule to ensure stress-free family trips with our baby.
Balancing work, parenting, and personal life requires setting boundaries, effective time management, and delegating tasks when possible. It's an ongoing process.
For overwhelmed new parents, remember that it's okay to ask for help, prioritize self-care, and cherish the small moments. Parenting is a journey, and you're not alone in facing its challenges.
